DLM Update
	The first Learning Circle of the Designated Lay Ministry (DLM) Program, CARING FOR COMMUNITY, will be held at Calling Lakes Centre January 25 - 31, 2010. Students will gather from across Canada for this event facilitated by Caryn Douglas and Catherine Barnsley, the Coordinators of the DLM Program.
From Wednesday, January 27 to Friday 29, we will focus on "Issues and Ethics of Pastoral Care in Community". This event is open to the public. We look forward to the additional leadership of Jean Waters for these 3 days. Jean is the past Co-Coordinator of the Master of Arts in Pastoral Psychology and Counselling at St. Stephen’s College in Edmonton, and is a pastoral counsellor and lifelong member of the United Church. With a focus on pastoral care as a community responsibility, the January 27 to 29 public event will explore approaches to pastoral care that challenge lone-ranger pastoral care. Drawing on our rich scriptural heritage, we will grapple with understanding the role of leaders in empowering the community in pastoral care, social analysis and advocacy for change.
