Thank you to Colleen and Allan
Barss for a gift of money in memory of Colleen’s parents, Norma
and Robert (Bob) Ferguson. They felt that Calling Lakes ministry
is consistent with Norma and Bob’s inspirational lives grounded
in community and faith.
Norma and Bob Ferguson farmed near Edgeley, SK in the Donamar
district. Along with the work of farming, they became involved
in all the community activities and became lifelong members of
the Edgeley United Church.
While raising their family of 4 children, they were also part
of a network of friends/neighbours that formed a community that
was close and connected and yet also open to new people. Their
home was a welcoming place, where friends and family gathered
for coffee, a bridge game, or a singsong. There was always room
at the table for one more, whether it was the middle of winter
or the middle of harvest.
Bob’s involvement and leadership in the local church, the
cooperative movement, University of Regina, the rural
municipality of North Qu’Appelle, as well as a deep connection
to his family, friends and neighbours, was always inspiring.
Norma’s leadership as choir director and singer, her love of
music, energetic attitude, organizational skills, sense of
humour, deep faith, nurturing presence and her deep sense of
hospitality made people feel welcome and included.
