CHOCOLATE OAT BARS

1 cup butter |
2 ½ cups all
purpose flour |

2 cup packed
brown sugar |
1 tsp baking
soda |
| 2 eggs |
1 tsp salt |
| 2 tsp vanilla |
3 cups rolled
oats |
| Beat
together butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift together
flour, soda and salt, then add oats. Combine egg and flour
mixture together to make batter. |
| In a saucepan,
combine: |

| 2 cups
semi-sweet chocolate
chips |
1 can (14 oz)
sweetened condensed milk |
| 2 Tbsp butter |
¼ tsp salt |
| Stir until
smooth, then add |
|
| 1 cup chopped
pecans or walnuts |
1 tsp vanilla |
| Put
2/3 of batter mixture into 10 ½ x 15 ½ cookie sheet or
jelly roll pan. Pour chocolate mixture over all, then dot
with the remaining 1/3 of batter. Bake at 350° for about
25 minutes. Makes 6 dozen 1" x 2" bars. |
