Cakes, Pies and Desserts

GERMAN FRUIT CAKE DESSERT 
Vera Peck, formerly of Sidney United, Sidney MB

2 cups flour 1 tsp vanilla
1 cup sugar 1 egg
3/4 cup butter or margarine Pie filling or other cooked fruit
1 tsp baking powder
Crumble and put half of mixture in bottom of a pan, either 9x9 or 9x13, depending on the thickness you like. Put in a layer of any fruit (apricot or peach pie filler is delicious). Add remaining crumbs. Bake in moderate oven until golden brown. Serve with whipped cream or your favourite sauce.
