MOM'S BOILED RAISIN CAKE 
Jean and George Sibbald, Saskatoon, SK

2 cups raisins 2 cup flour
3 cups water 1/2 tsp each allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg
1 t soda Pinch of salt
1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup butter 1 cup walnuts
1 egg 1 cup raisins
Boil raisins with water until 1 cup juice remains. Add soda. Cream brown sugar and butter, add egg. Add flour sifted with spices and salt. Then add vanilla, walnuts and raisins. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
