Muffins, Quick Breads and Pancakes

CHEESE STRAWS 
Doris House, Kirkfield Park United, Winnipeg, MB
1 cup flour 1 tsp salt
1/4 lb. grated cheese (old cheddar) Dash of cayenne
1/4 lb. butter
Mix together flour, salt, cayenne and cheese. Mix in butter and work to a smooth paste, sufficiently stiff to roll (add a few drops of milk if necessary). Roll out very thin and cut in narrow strips (about 4 inches long, or more if you like). Line a shallow pan with well greased paper. Lay the straws in and bake about 10 minutes in 350( oven. They must be straw coloured and very crisp. If they are allowed to brown there will be a bitter taste.
