About Calling Lakes Centre
The Calling Lakes Centre is an education and retreat centre of The United Church of Canada. It sits quietly
on the north shore of Echo Lake in the beautiful Qu’Appelle
Valley, just 2 km west of Fort Qu’Appelle.
Our residences are made up of comfortable self-contained
rooms with a scenic view, each with two single beds and a full
bathroom with towels and linens supplied. Guests are responsible
for their own shampoo and other toiletries. The main building
and one of our residences are wheelchair accessible. All of our
buildings are smoke free. We have a scent-sensitive
policy. Please do not wear perfume and use unscented
personal care product. We cannot accommodate pets.
You can relax in the lounge, or take advantage of the nature
trail and walking paths which offer a beautiful view of the
valley in any season.
In addition to offering our own programs the Centre is
pleased to host:
 |
Individuals who come for retreats |
 |
Church groups who may use the Centre for
retreats, community building or meetings |
 |
Community, other non-profit, or commercial groups who wish to meet in a community based
retreat setting |
|
| Our Purpose:
The purpose of Calling Lakes Centre is to provide a sacred

· to find the Holy within and around them.
The Centre stands with those who seek justice and
resist evil. It encourages, facilitates and supports
learning, growth and transformation.

Calling Lakes Centre:
Educational
Philosophy
The Educational
Philosophy of Calling Lakes Centre assumes that people are responsible
for their own learning and that learning happens
faithfully when it:
-
Is done in community,
in an atmosphere of acceptance and affirmation and
in a physical environment that is conducive to
concentration and supports growth and change.
-
Is self-motivated,
with agreed upon purpose, expectations and goals.
-
Is experiential, with
shared leadership and full participation in
discussions, decision making and actions.
-
Is an ongoing process.
-
Includes a holistic
view of the world (personal, spiritual, social,
economic, political and ecological).
